Studio After Cigs

Studio After Cigs is the creative world of a self taught artist and a grumpy black cat named PowPow. Based in Malaysia, the studio explores bold visuals and storytelling filled with wit, emotion, and a touch of chaos. Since 2021, over 400 original works have been created and shared online, and had its first ever solo exhibition at Touch Gallery in Hong Kong this February, marking a significant milestone in bringing its world beyond the screen into a physical space.

Studio After Cigs is less of a studio and more of a circus, chaotic, unpredictable, and unapologetically honest. Run by an anonymous human and fronted by a grumpy black cat, PowPow, this space exists where sarcasm meets sincerity. Each painting is a moment, sometimes tragic, sometimes hilarious, always a little unhinged.

This circus doesn’t seek applause. It invites you to sit with discomfort, laugh at your own nonsense, and maybe spot a bit of yourself in the mess. Humour is the hook, but beneath the punchlines lie soft bruises and quiet truths.
